Sands parking garage implosion April 3, 2008
Demolition crews from Controlled-Demolition, Inc. (CDI) and R.E. Pierson Construction Co. imploded the former Sands Casino Hotel's 9-story parking garage on Kentucky Avenue. It took less than 10 seconds for the garage to be reduced to rubble.

Sands Casino Hotel implosion October 18, 2007
Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. cleared the way for its planned multi-billion-dollar gaming resort at the heart of the famed Boardwalk with a spectacular implosion of the former Sands Casino Hotel. The nitroglycerin-fueled blast marked the first nighttime implosion in New Jersey and first-ever casino-hotel implosion on the East Coast. More than 100,000 tons of rubble was generated from the casino and the 21-story hotel tower.

Preparation for explosives placement October 9, 2007
Demolition crews from R.E. Pierson Construction and Controlled Demolition, Inc. drill and prep concrete columns in the former Sands Casino for explosives placement. Columns are wrapped with chain link fencing and geo-textile fabric to prevent fly of debris during the detonation sequence.

Sands walkbridge dismantled August 20, 2007
The 50 ft. long, 5th story walkbridge, that carried millions of visitors from the former Sands Casino parking garage over to the casino floor, is cut away from between the buildings.

Rear exterior demolition August 8, 2007
R.E. Pierson demolition crews used a Hitachi 330 with a 70 ft. boom and attached shear to cut through exterior glass casements covering the back of the Sands. Later, a Komatsu 650 Excavator tears down levels that held (from the top) the former poker room, Boardwalk Buffet, Copa Room and dressing rooms, and casino floor.

Façade teardown July 30, 2007
